Zur Bedeutung der Targume bei der Herausbildung des MONAXO∑-Konzeptes in den Nag Hammadi-Texten

Generally the scholarly consensus lead the greek term μovαχó&sfgr; (monk) back to the syriac word îh?îdāyā. Evidences from the targumim, however, make it possible to assume that μov&agr;χó&sfgr; on its early stages of development which are partly available to us through the Nag Hammadi writings Gospel of Thomas and Dialogue of the Savior might have been influenced by the concept of the Aramaic y^?h?yd'a.
