Athanasius und Basilius
The author shows the authenticity of two letters of Athanasius, the Epistula ad Palladium and the Epistula ad Joannem et Antiochum. They belong to the later period of Athanasius' life and are vestiges of the broad correspondence of Athanasius which is now lost. In these letters Athanasius utters strong support for his colleague Basilius of Caesarea, although they do not agree in doctrinal matters. This is no reason, however, to believe that those letters are forgeries of later times. The author shows the historical context of the two letters and provides an overview of the last years of Athanasius.
