The aim of the paper is the determination of the methodological status of the term dead body and its logical relationship to living body. This reconstruction is performed on two alternative ways namely with and without explicit reference towards biological descriptions. The semantic dependency of the expression dead body from living body justifies the specific epistemic role of the first expression, which can be determined as being fundamental even in ethical contexts. Following this line of argument, the verbal expression living and dying can be reconstructed as indicating a specific kind of reference towards human actions and activities.
