Numerical solution of the problem on reconstructing the initial condition for a semilinear parabolic equation

We prove the solvability of the finite element approximation of a data assimilation problem. We justify the method of successive approximations for solving problem of the initial condition reconstruction for a semilinear parabolic second-order equation and numerically investigate the method for a quasilinear heat conduction problem.
