Numerical simulation of the interaction between surface waves and submerged obstacles

In this paper, we describe a finite difference algorithm for calculating on movable grids the process of the interaction between surface waves and submerged obstacles located at the bottom. In the framework of the mathematical model of potential two-dimensional flows of an ideal incompressible fluid with a free boundary we consider the interaction between a solitary wave propagating over the horizontal bottom and a sill of a rectangular form. The results of the numerical solution to the problem of a steady fluid flow over a sill are compared with experimental data.
