Moufang quadrangles of type E₆ and E₇

We determine the structure of the quotient group G₀/G^†, where G₀ is the group of all linear automorphisms of a Moufang quadrangle of type E₆ or E₇ and G^† is the subgroup of G₀ generated by all the root groups.
