Multidimensional scaling to visualize text separation

One can count the occurrences of each type of character in a text, and arrive at a text profile. Does such a profile give enough information to separate texts, such as wanted emails from unwanted ones? Multidimensional scaling (MDS) provides a means of visualizing such profile data, so that one can make an informed assessment for a given set of circumstances. By extension, MDS can be applied beyond the problem of text separation.
