Der „XV. International Congress of Anthropological and Ethnological Sciences“ vereinte unter dem Tagungstitel „Humankind / Nature Interaction: Past, Present and Future“ in der heutigen anthropologischen und ethnologischen Forschung relevante Themenbereiche wie z. B. „Primatology and Human Evolution“, „Genetics Technologies and their Anthropological Implications“, „Food and Health“, „Ethnic Identities and Ethnic Interactions“, „Forest Management, Climate Change and The Future of Mankind“, „Urban Anthropology“, „Aggression and Collective Violence: Ethnic and Ideological Conflict and Human Rights“. In den Hauptveranstaltungen präsentierten die jeweiligen Vorsitzenden die wichtigsten Ergebnisse der sogenannten „pre-sessions,“ die vom 5. bis 7. Juli stattfanden, und machten diese einem breiteren Publikum bekannt.
