Morphometrics and ecology of Myotis cf. punicus (Chiroptera, Vespertilionidae) in Corsica
The presence of the Maghrebian bat, Myotis cf. punicus Felten, 1977, is
reported from Corsica where it is found in low numbers throughout the
island, at altitudes between 0 and 1480 m. Most of winter roosts and all
breeding colonies are recorded at the lowest altitudes in bridges, caves, mines
and buildings. Maghrebian bats forage in open habitats and prey up on
Orthoptera, Coleoptera and Lepidoptera (caterpillars). The conservation
status is discussed.
