The compound sulphoglycerolipid 1-0-palmitoyl-3-0(6?-sulpho-?-quinovopyranosyl)-glycerol isolated from the methanolic extract of the brown seaweed Sargassum wightii is active against Xanthomonas oryzae pv. oryzae which causes bacterial blight of rice.
