In August 2005, Klaus J. Hopt, one of the leading scholars in German and European Company and Financial Law, celebrated his 65th anniversary. On that occasion, his academic disciples invited more than 60 friends and colleagues from virtually all over the world to participate in a scientific symposium organized in his honour. The symposium was held on September 2 and 3, 2005 at Humboldt University in Berlin. The current issue of the European and Financial Law Review presents the speeches delivered at that symposium. All four papers center on Klaus J. Hopt's academic Oeuvre: The current debate on legal capital in Europe, the role of the individual shareholder in the company, the takeover regime and the mobility of companies in Europe.
