The tele-operation of mobile robots raises interesting problems in the context of telematics as well as autonomous control systems and can be used for a wide range of applications. In this contribution concrete realisation in the areas space exploration, industrial production and tele-education will be addressed. The required functionalities and the technical realisations with emphasis on the telematics and control aspects will be presented and compared.
