Soft variable-structure controls are nonlinear state feedback controls for linear plants with input constraints. Their linear control law is changed continuously over time by a state dependent selection parameter. The change in the control law is such that the available input is used as much as possible. This results in a nearly time-optimal behaviour. From a practical point of view, a state feedback control should be combinable with an observer, since normally not all states can be measured. In this paper we deal with observers for soft variable-structure controls and prove that the control using an observer is stable.
