Stability properties of nonlinear sampled data systems are analyzed in this contribution. As a starting point the generation of sampled-data systems is discussed. The effect of sampling is examined revealing in which way the equilibrium points, the stability, the relative degree, and the zero dynamics of a sampled-data system are associated with structural properties of the underlying continuous-time system and the sampling rate. As a result, basic requirements can be deduced, that have to be met, in order that a sampled-data system shows particular system properties.
