Smart Structures for Automotive Applications with the Example of a Modular Active Interface

Keywords: adaptronics, smart structures, active systems, structure dynamics, NVH (noise, vibration, harshness)

Adaptronics offers solutions for the structure mechanical optimization of various mechanical engineering products. In automotive engineering a special focus is given on NVH-problems. Fundamental mechanical approaches are Active Vibration Control (AVC) and Active Structural Acoustic Control (ASAC). Moreover, safety-related applications, actively optimizing the crash characteristics of cars and structural health monitoring (SHM) and health control (SHC) are being investigated.
