The Set of All Robust Stabilizing PID Controllers: Methods and Software (Part II)

Keywords: discrete PID, singular frequencies, robust control

The problem of finding the set of all PID and three-term stabilizers for discrete-time systems is solved in this paper. The method uses the fact that in a rotated parameter space, controller parameters decouple at singular frequencies. The resulting stable regions are composed by convex polygonal slices. The design problem may be divided into two subtasks: (a) assertion of intervals where stable polygons may exist, and (b) their detection. This paper provides solutions to both problems.
