Sensor Self-Monitoring and Fault-Tolerance

Introducing the fault-tolerance of mechatronic systems a precise definition of error, fault, and failure is given. A classification of self-monitoring methods is presented. The aim of the given structure is to support a systematic implementation of self-monitoring in autonomous sensors.
