Magnetic sensors based on the giant magneto-resistance effect have been developed for automotive applications. The sensor characteristics have been optimised with respect to two different applications, the angular position sensing and the rotational speed sensing. The sensors show reliable performance at temperatures up to 170°C and high stability even at high magnetic fields (< 200 kA/m). The sensor output exhibit a high linearity range, high sensitivity, and low hysteresis.
