This paper deals with the synthesis of robust optimal linear controllers with fixed configuration for nonlinear plants. The nonlinear plant is represented by a nominal linear model with uncertainties. In contrast to the μ-synthesis one can use a fix structure of controller with this procedure. The parameters of the controller are computed by numerical optimization in terms of time or frequency domain criteria. For the robust performance appraisal in terms of uncertainties the μ-analysis is used as an additional criterion. The capability of this procedure is demonstrated with the shaft speed control of an aircraft jet engine.
