Optical 3D-Position Measuring System

The position detection of moving components in robotics and medical engineering features increasing complexity and requires the simultaneous detection of several degrees of freedom in the 3D-space. That leads to the development of 3D-position sensors, which can determine the localization of the robots and/or instruments. An optoelectronic and non-tactile 3D-position measuring system was developed based on a CCD-image sensor. It allows the measurement of six degrees of freedom, the three linear directions in x, y and z and the three rotational ones around the respective axes. The experimentally measured resolutions of the system are for the x- and y-direction 1 mm, for the z-direction 6 mm and for the rotations 1º, appr.
