Nonlinear Vehicle Dynamics Control for Improvement of the Crosswind Behaviour by an Active Front Steering

During critical cornering maneuvers and lane changes or at suddenly occurring crosswind, a vehicle with Active Front Steering can be stabilized by appropriate steering interventions of a controller. Using the Popov criterion, this paper presents a nonlinear control for a vehicle with an Active Front Steering in order to improve the crosswind behaviour. The efficiency is demonstrated by simulations.
