Nonlinear Identification of the Air Path of Turbo-charged Diesel Engines and an Automated EGR/VGT-Controller Design

A systematic procedure is introduced for the identification of the air path (air- and exhaust manifold) of diesel engines, by means of dynamic engine measurements. Local linear models in output error configuration are used. Furthermore, an automated calibration of the feedback-controllers is presented for the air mass flow and the charging pressure.
