Magnetorelaxometry of Magnetic Nanoparticles for the Quantitative and Specific Analysis of Biomolecules

The magnetorelaxometry (MRX) is a very promising tool for the realization of a so-called magnetic relaxation immunoassay (MARIA). Such immunoassays have compared to others the advantages that no washout steps of unbound markers are required and that the markers can be manipulated by magnetic field gradients. We have built a relaxation system on the basis of a differential fluxgate arrangement and have tested a variety of magnetite ferrofluids for their suitability for the realization of a MARIA.
