For the large-scale production of solar cells, efficient test methods are becoming increasingly important for quality assurance and process optimization. Solar cells can be tested during the manufacturing process within a very short time by means of light modulated lock-in thermography (LimoLIT). Local heating is induced at defects (shunts) by periodically illuminating the solar cell and is detected using a high-performance thermographic camera and the subsequent application of a lock-in procedure.
