From Jams on the Road to Traffic Information – Data Fusion as a Part of the Traffic Modelling Process

What every road user wants is probably to be as informed as possible. A number of activities are trying to make this wish come true. The emphasis of these projects is the fusion of as much input data on a traffic condition as possible. These complex technical and economical contents should be considered in the light of the following problems: What is hiding behind the term ”Traffic condition”? Which data sources can be fused to a traffic condition? Which technical approaches can be used for the fusion? How should the players involved in the entire process co-operate with each other? What are the conditions which should be taken into account when considering the net product chain?
