Investigations of the Thermal Aging of Coatings

The aging of acrylate coatings (water as well as solvent based) was investigated by the determination of emitted volatile compounds, their origin, and the influence of the emission on the properties of the coating. The similarities of and the differences between the aging behaviour of both types of coatings are discussed.
