For the simulation of air bubble flows the forces have to be taken into account which act on the bubbles under real conditions. Such forces affect bubble shape and can be inferred from the latter. Bubbles ascending in stagnant water are often described without further explanation using biaxial ellipsoids. Justification of this practice can be found via primarily modelling a real bubble as triaxial ellipsoid and subsequently checking if it can be reduced to a biaxial ellipsoid. For this purpose, at first three orthogonal optical projections are produced. These plane maps are expressed by three ellipses from which the required triaxial ellipsoid is calculated in a second step.
