How much Internet needs the Automation Engineer? – Reflections on Internet Technology as Educational Subject

Internet technologies are widely seen as key technologies to enlarge considerably the scope of automation applications. The current paper discusses the selection of important automation relevant issues on communication networks to be covered by the academic education of automation and control engineers. It reports on first results of its implementation at the Department of Electrical Engineering and Information Technology at the Technische Universität Dresden.
