High Resolution Ultrasonic Distance Measurement for Long Distances

An overview of problems occurring together with ultrasonic distance measurement for industrial applications is given. The 1-bit-correlation method simplifies the handling of strongly varying amplitudes received and real time operation. A comparison of the A-B-measuring method and the passive reflection leads to the active reflection method. An ultrasonic transducer is analysed regarding its effect of correlation-based reception.
