This paper presents a model-based fault diagnosis system for linear hydraulic servo axes. Parity equations and parameter estimation methods are employed for fault detection, which are based on a precise physical model of the hydraulic plant. A fuzzy logic based diagnosis system allows the diagnosis of ten process faults at the control valve and the cylinder as well as sensor faults in all employed sensors.
