Laser-radar for scanning 3D measurement systems as well as velocity measurements should allow both high measurement rate and accuracy. Initially, this paper introduces a relative measurement time efficiency of radar devices in order to characterise the measurement speed compared to an ideal system. In addition, we present a fast pulse laser-radar based on the compensation of amplitude and time delay of the signal received. In comparison to conventional pulse radar the device features two major advantages: firstly a measurement rate increased by more than one order of magnitude without any deterioration of accuracy and secondly an improved accuracy at the same measuring rate.
