Dynamic Exhaust Gas Analysis for Test Bed Application Using Infrared Laser Spectroscopy – Results and Qutlook

Against the background of new regulations, automotive industry requires innovative measurement techniques for sensitive and selective multicomponent exhaust gas analysis enabling a highly temporal resolution. The novel exhaust gas analysing system DEGAS IV developed at Fraunhofer-Institut für Physikalische Messtechnik (IPM) enables a simultaneous concentration measurement of different exhaust gas components — time-resolved down to one revolution cycle. Main application areas are the study of details of engine combustion and the test of combustion models, as well as engine fine tuning for reduction of fuel consumption and pollution emission.
