By use of the new BMW VALVETRONIC engines BMW realizes for the first time the principle of throttle-free load management in a series S.I. engine at stoichiometric combustion. Control of the complexity which significantly increased with the implementation of VALVETRONIC is only possible by fusing together the know-how of mechanical-, process- and electrical engineering as well as a strategic division of the development tasks.
