Determination of Measurement Uncertainty – Comparison of Results from Calculation and Experiment

In an international interlaboratory comparison the measurement both of mesh and wire diameter of wire screens was investigated. The experimental results were used to check the calculated values of measurement uncertainty according to GUM. The comparison produced plausible figures, provided that systematic components were allowed and some preconditions of the calculation were approximated to the interlaboratory comparison. The measurement capability of the wire diameter was acceptable. The determination of the mesh had often not the necessary precision. The results quantitatively confirm qualitative practical experiences.
