Detection of Hidden Anomalies around Sewer Pipes by Means of a Microwave Back-Scattering Sensor

A microwave back-scattering sensor has been developed by IITB which enables the qualified detection of voids and leakages up to 30 cm behind the wall of the sewer pipe. Even at small diameters this simple ´CW radar′ can always be taken along. As a belt, the patented antenna arrangement permits the fast overall acquisition of the bedding area. The sensor was successfully tested in a real sewer as well as in case of sewer restauration by relining.
