Camera Aided Control of Combustion Processes with the Software Tool INSPECT

Keywords: combustion optimization, image processing, thermography

An optimal combustion of fuels with changing properties like biomass or municipal waste requires advanced control strategies based on a continuous process monitoring. The monitoring is performed by cameras in conjunction with an automatic image analysis to provide additional information for an adaptive process control. With the software tool INSPECT these additional information can be extracted reliable and online from infrared and video images. INSPECT calculates characteristic parameters for combustion monitoring, analysis and control. Based on several industrial applications of the INSPECT system the potential of an camera based combustion control are stressed out.
