Automated Control Design for Discrete and Continuous-Discrete Systems

In continuous control engineering almost all well-known design methods for controllers are based on a mathematical model of the system which has to be controlled. If a model is available the controller can be calculated analytically under consideration of the requirements on the control system. Due to similarities between the structures of continuous and discrete event control systems, it is obvious, to transfer this model-based methodology to the discrete and then to the mixed discrete-continuous control engineering. This contribution describes a methodical concept of the model-based control design for discrete as well as mixed continuous-discrete systems.
