For some time thermography is used for two-dimensional and non-tactile measurement and thermal imaging of surface temperatures. Determining the temperature in drying processes the method can help to tune and optimise process windows. By measuring the heat loss on stimulated surfaces depth resolved profiles of material properties can be measured that affect the heat conductivity. By this way layer thicknesses, state of hardening, and corrosion protection measures can be examined. Two techniques are described which are both based on the radiometric measurement of surface temperatures.
