The objective of the examinations reported is the optimization of the measurement chain of piezoresistive sensors by the primary electronics. Preliminary investigations with piezoresistive sensors and with commercial primary electronics for piezoresistive sensors showed that the best measurement capability of the measuring chain is dominated by the measuring uncertainty of the primary sensor. Therefore the aim was the cost reduction of existing primary electronics by systematic simplification and variation of circuits for analog resistance measurement. Alternative concepts were developed which show a measurement uncertainty comparable with conventional primary electronics, but with appreciable cost advantages.
