Acoustic Impedance as a Process Variable to Characterize Liquids

The measurement of the electrical impedance is possible nowadays in a wide frequency range and is used for material testing. Apart from the electrical and optical measuring principles acoustic measurement systems permit to obtain reliable process information, too. This contribution describes the reasons why the accurate measurement of acoustic impedance is difficult up to now and the prospects for the future.
