A New Method for Determining Current Operating Points in Adaptive Control Systems based on Multi-models

For applying adaptive control systems based on multi-models it is necessary to determine the operating point reliably that is characterizing the current submodel in the running process. Usually continuously estimated parameter values of the submodels are used for this purpose. In case of weak input excitations the estimates of the modell parameters will normally deviate very much from their true values. Then by the known procedures it will be impossible to detect the operating point reliably. In the paper is proven that it is possible to derive a function of the estimates of the parameter values from the structure of the used submodels which is identicable also in cases of weak input excitations. Thereby it is possible to determine the valid operating point reliably and, above all, very quickly also in cases where only inaccurate estimates of the parameter values are available.
