A compact, non-scanning magnet-MS for highly time-resolved analyses of gas mixtures

The development of a mass spectrometer for monitoring the composition of gas mixtures in rapidly changing processes is presented. The MS is of the Mattauch-Herzog type and is based on a permanent magnet and an array detector. Thus, all ions are measured simultaneously. Measurements carried out with the system described above as a detector for fast GC-Analyses and for on-line monitoring the exhaust gas of a combustion engine are shown.
