WiKo – An Integrated Knowledge and Cooperation Platform

In this paper an IT-support for knowledge work in knowledge-intensive work processes is introduced. This knowledge and cooperation platform (in German: Wissens- und Kooperations-Plattform – for short: WiKo) combines activities of use and activities of (cooperative) creation of knowledge. On the on side the knowledge of the entire organisation can be used by a single knowledge worker and on the other side – based on this existing organisational knowledge – new knowledge can be created in a social, cooperative process, which in turn will be provided as organisational resources for the entire organisation, groups and the single knowledge worker. A web-based platform was implemented and evaluated that integrates functionality for organisational knowledge management as well as functionality for the different kinds of coopera-tive knowledge creation, and combines those.
