Usability Engineering of Electronic Programme Guides (EPGs)

This paper introduces electronic programme guides (EPGs) and their role as a navigational aid in interactive television. In addition to an overview about different models, the users′ background and derived requirements are described. Besides technical constraints, these needs challenge the design of EPGs, which are outlined by means of a selection of specific aspects.
