UniCats: A System for Managing the Information Market of Scientific Literature

Over the past years an increasing number of services has become available for searching and acquiring literature. Unfortunately, it has also added to the confusion on the part of the user who has ever growing difficulties to cope with the large variety of service offers. The UniCats project aims at supporting the users by providing a system which gives an unified view of the services, but still allows them to distinguish among the services on given selection properties. The system is designed under the premise of an open market for document services. Our research focuses on flexible wrapping and intelligent trading of information sources as well as powerful user support.
