Testing Safety-Critical Software in Theory and Practice: A Summary

Regardless of its well-known weaknesses, dynamic testing is widely used by practitioners. This applies also to the development of safety-critical software. In the following the causes for this situation are analysed. Beyond that the possible alternatives are investigated and the requirements of selected standards regarding software testing are discussed.
