Supporting the Development of Embedded Systems by Mechanisms of Active Databases

Sophisticated tools exist for the draft and the simulation of embedded systems. It must be possible for the designer of a concrete task to reuse draft knowledge available in a knowledge base and to ensure the consistence of all draft data independent of their administration in specific tools. This paper describes how the knowledge engineer maintaining knowledge bases can use modern techniques the field of active databases offers so that, without knowing the internal details of a given DBMS, he can generate and maintain flexible knowledge bases which ensure the consistent administration of his draft data.
