Is Speech Interaction Intuitive Today?

An empirical study investigates the acceptability and usability of telephone-based speech applications in Germany. Extensive telephone interviews provide data about the usage and acceptance of speech applications. Detailed insights into the usability of current systems and into the relevant quality aspects of the voice user interface stem from usability tests with six selected German speech applications. This paper presents an overview of the most important results of the study.
