As a consequence of increasing networking capabilities and capacities, as well as a rising amount of information provided on global networks, methods and mechanisms are required to provide users with that information and those services which are relevant to the user′s current context of system use. This article discusses an ontology-based methodology which aims at the integration of context-engineering mechanisms within the engineering process of Web applications. Subsequently, an architecture for context-adaptive Web applications is shown, which enables the usage of the context-engineering artefacts for context-adaption in the runtime application, at varying application levels.
