Multiagent Technologies for Ambient Intelligence

Ambient Intelligence describes a vision of a future where humans shall be surrounded by electronic environments, sensitive and responsive to people. This article sketches an Ambient Intelligence roadmap, covering the stages of Ubiquitous Computing, context-awareness, and agent-based Ambient Intelligence. By using two project case studies, we outline current industrial applications and limitations, leading to new research opportunities.
